Part 3: Tailored financial report
The third part of the benchmarking service includes Part 2 (see previous), but takes it a step further by providing a detailed analaysis and recommendations of what to do to realise the profit opportunities and close any operational gaps in your business. The tailored report will address both the financial and business aspects of your book shop. For example, the tailored report could identify that the bookshop is generating a below average gross profit margin and calculates the profit gap. The report could suggest alternative ways to close the profit gap, for example, decreasing overheads by a specific amount or increasing per person productivity by a specific percentage.

The report will be provided by a retail and accounting expert from Australian Retail Services. The financial data will be handled by a third party, Australian Retail Services, and remains confidential between the parties. A confidentiality agreement that individual data will not be disclosed will be part of the service. The ABA will only be provided with summary reports of aggregate data, that does not identify any individual members.

A fee will be applicable for this service to be launched in 2008.
