The Little Bookroom is celebrating its 50th Birthday! Founded in 1960, it was Australia's first bookstore dedicated solely to children's books. It remains an iconic business with an impeccable reputation and is now one of the oldest children's bookshops in the world.
We are seeking an energetic person for the full-time position of sales representative/account manager, a vital role in our small team's commitment to continuing The Little Bookroom's longstanding tradition of excellence as children's specialist booksellers.
The ideal applicant will have a comprehensive knowledge of children's books and the drive to develop and create new relationships with our school clients. A background in sales will be an advantage as the position requires sales targets to be met (bonuses apply).
A full license and a high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office package are essential. Experience with BookNet is beneficial. A personable manner, adaptability, self-motivation, reliability and first-rate time management skills are qualities the applicant must possess. The ability to do lots of lifting (books are heavy!) is essential.

Bookshop/Retail Assistant |

Volumes has a position available for a Retail Assistant in our busy books, music and giftware store in Eltham. Experience working in a bookshop environment is ESSENTIAL.
For the right person, potential exists for the position to expand to a 2IC role supporting the Bookshop Manager.
The person we are looking for will be computer literate, preferably with a knowledge of mBiblioFile and Microsoft Office applications, and willing to work flexible hours up to approx 20 - 25hrs per week, including weekends.
Essential criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to answer product enquiries and identify customer needs
- Demonstrated ability to use mBiblioFile or similar database program to process sales and perform customer and inventory management
- Demonstrated ability to assist in the opening/closing of the store and processing of customer orders and laybys
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with suppliers and understand ordering and stock return processes.
This position requires exceptional customer service skills as well as excellent presentation and communication skills. The ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as autonomously is very important.
Applicants must have bookshop experience. Applicants who also have experience in a giftware environment will be highly regarded.

Senior Customer Service Officer: DVD Specialist - Readings St Kilda |

During its 40 years in business, Readings had grown to become a major Australian retailer of books, music and film. Despite its large scale operations, with 6 stores around Melbourne, each Readings shop retains an intimate feel, with strong community ties and carefully selected ranges that reflect the character of the area and the tastes of the customers.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced book or DVD retailer to secure a senior customer service position as the DVD specialist for our vibrant St Kilda branch. The role is expected to be permanent part-time, 4 days (28 hours approx) per week including one weekend and one evening shift. Role responsibilities will include the maintenance and purchasing of inventory, and marketing of DVD titles, as well as general shop duties.
It is essential for the applicant to have:
A solid retail sales track record, including buying experience, specifically in the book and/or DVD industry
Extensive film knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven customer service skills
Experience with budget management
Solid computer skills, including use of spreadsheets, the internet, inventory management systems
